Dinosaur Footprint Fossil
Dinosaur Footprint Fossils — Authentic Trace Fossils
Explore Dinosaur Footprint Fossils — Rare Tracks & Trace Relics
Walk in the footsteps of extinct ancient giants. Dinosaur footprint fossils (or trace fossils) mark the one precise moment in time when an animal walked across a wet surface, furnishing invaluable, irreplaceable insights into behavior and the environment.
At Fossil Age Minerals, each footprint is genuine, well-preserved, perfect for any collector, educator, or anyone who harbors an interest in motion over deep time.
Types of Dinosaur Footprint Fossils
Fossilized tracks available in our collection include the following:
- Theropod footprints of the predator stride and gait-the areas including Grallator and Eubrontes
- Herbivore track imprints recording movement of slow-moving, four-legged dinosaurs.
- Fragments of trackways reveal the pattern of movement, herd behavior, and instant activity of the dinosaurs.
Each footprint fossil story is a snapshot preserved for millions of years of dinosaurs walking, hunting, or migrating.
Certified Authenticity of Our Track Fossils
Authenticity counts. All the trace fossils we sell are verified by experts and acquired through ethical channels. Many listings come with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), but one can be requested to assure provenance. These fossils are not replicas but trace fossils preserving real dinosaur activity from prehistoric lands.

Why Track Fossils Matter for Learning and Research
Dinosaur footprints aren’t just collector pieces—they’re powerful classroom tools. Track fossils capture moments of prehistoric behavior, which bones alone cannot convey. Teachers and science facilitators use them to illustrate animal movement, group dynamics, and paleoenvironments. From fossil track discovery to hands-on study, footprints make ancient science unforgettable.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are dinosaur footprint fossils?
They are trace fossils—natural imprints left by dinosaurs walking, preserved in ancient sedimentary rock.
Are these footprint fossils real?
Yes—each item is an authentic, expert-verified fossil footprint; many include a Certificate of Authenticity.
What can footprint fossils tell us?
They offer direct evidence about behavior, modes of movement, and environmental context-the same information that body fossils fail to convey.
Can track fossils be used for school lessons?
Absolutely—they offer direct evidence of how some species or groups of species moved-memorable and perfect for their study in motion, trace evidence, and paleontology.
Grallator is an ichnogenus, meaning it is a genus that is represented by only footprints. There are no fossil remains which have been identified as belonging to this animal. Grallator means "stilt walker," but since no fossil remains have been found, they don't know how long its legs were. The prefix "Grallae" refers to the bird group that includes herons and storks (long-legged wading birds). It is likely that Grallator Variabilis resembled a Coelophysis.
