Name: Oviraptor (Egg thief)

Size: Estimated about 1.6 meters long

Oviraptor (lit. 'egg thief') is a genus of oviraptorid dinosaurs that lived in eastern Asia and North America during the Late Cretaceous period (around 100 million to 65.5 million years ago). The specimen has been estimated at 1.6 m (5.2 ft) in length with a weight ranging from 33 to 40 kg (73 to 88 lb) and walked on two long, well-developed hind limbs. The forelimbs were long and slender, with three long clawed fingers clearly suited for grasping, ripping, and tearing, and had a wide lower jaw with a skull that likely had a crest. It was first found with the remains of eggs that were thought to belong to Protoceratops.
