Maiasaura is a large herbivorous saurolophine hadrosaurid ("duck-billed") dinosaur genus that lived during Upper Cretaceous Period about 65 to 70 million years ago. In 1978, a Maiasaura nesting site was discovered in the Two Medicine Formation near Choteau, Montana, U.S. It had a toothless bill that was short and wide, and inside its mouth, there were hundreds of teeth that it used to chew and grind plants. It had a low head with a small bony crest between its eyes and its tail was long and pointed. Like other duck-billed dinosaurs, Maiasaura’s hind legs were longer than its front limbs. it would have taken about seven or eight years for Maiasaura to reach an adult size of eight meters and its body mass is measured approximately up to 4 metric tons.
